The Madhya Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (MPERC) on May 05, 2025, issued the Draft Madhya Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (Security Deposit) (Revision-I) (Fourth Amendment) Regulations, 2009 to amend the Madhya Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (Security Deposit) (Revision-I) Regulations, 2009.
The following has been stated: -
•Regulation 1.20 is revised to state that the security deposit for additional load will be calculated as for a new service, and the excess deposit due to reduced Contract Demand will be refunded in up to three instalments. Delays beyond three months in adjustment will attract 1% monthly interest above the prevailing bank rate.
•Revised Regulation 1.25 mandates refund of the security deposit within 7 days of permanent disconnection, agreement termination, or application cancellation, after adjusting dues. Delays beyond 7 days attract 1% monthly interest, and refunds must be completed within 120 days to avoid penalties.
•The proposed amendments invite suggestions/objections by May 26, 2025, via post, email, or fax. Copies of the draft regulation are available on the Commission’s website or in person, or by post.
•A public hearing will be held via video conferencing on May 28, 2025, at 11:00 AM for those who submit comments within the deadline.
